The Important Stuff
A friendly disclaimer, written plainly, with the necessary legal bits at the end.
What this site is
I built this site to help friends, family, and anyone else interested get started with AI. I share it freely. There are no advertisers, no sponsorship deals, and no paid placements. I have no commercial relationship with any of the AI companies whose tools I write about, beyond being a paying customer of several of them.
This is a personal project run by one person in their spare time. It is not a business, not a publication, and not an authority.
I am not an expert
I am one person who uses these tools every day and writes about what I find. I do my best to be accurate, but AI moves fast. A tool I recommend today might change its pricing, its features, or its policies tomorrow. Always check the official source before making a decision based on something you read here.
Things will be wrong sometimes
Despite my best efforts, there will be errors, outdated information, and things I have simply got wrong. If you spot something, please let me know through the feedback link in the bottom toolbar of any page and I will fix it. I genuinely want to know.
Use your judgement
AI is powerful but imperfect. This guide is the same. Take what is useful, verify what matters, and never rely solely on any single source. Including this one.
A note before the legal bit
I am sorry about the next several sections. I never thought a personal hobby site would need a section like the one that follows. But as more people read this guide and more is being asked of it, the responsible thing is to spell out the obvious. The tone shifts here from friendly to formal. The sections below are not written to be read for pleasure; they are written to be there if anyone needs to point to them.
If you only have time for one sentence: this is a free hobby site, I do my best, do not bet anything important on what I write, and please use a qualified person for anything that actually matters.
Use this site at your own risk
This site and everything on it is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, including the Australian Consumer Law, I make no representation or warranty about the accuracy, completeness, currency, suitability, or reliability of any content, and I will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, anything published here. This includes loss of money, data, time, opportunity, business, or anything else.
Australian Consumer Law
Some consumer guarantees under Australian law cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified. Nothing on this page is intended to limit any rights you have that cannot legally be limited. Where my liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, my liability is limited to resupplying the relevant content or, at my option, refunding any amount you have paid me, which, since this site is free, is generally zero.
This is not professional advice
The site touches on areas where the stakes can be real: health, finance, law, careers, family matters, scams, and how to use AI in any of them. None of it is professional advice. It is a starting point and a research aid, not a substitute for a qualified person who knows your specific situation.
If something matters, talk to someone who is actually qualified: a doctor, a lawyer, an accountant, a financial adviser, or whoever fits the question. Do not rely on this site as the final answer. Do not rely on AI as the final answer either.
AI is involved in producing some of this content
Some pages on this site, particularly the "This Week's Questions" entries, are drafted with the help of AI tools and then edited by me before publishing. The on-site chat assistant and the Persona Explorer respond using AI in real time. AI makes mistakes. I review what AI drafts before it goes live, but errors will still slip through. Treat any AI-generated output here, and anywhere else, as a draft to verify rather than a fact to act on.
Third-party tools and links
I link to and discuss many third-party AI products, websites, and services. I do not control these third parties, do not endorse them beyond what I have explicitly written, and am not responsible for their content, their accuracy, their pricing, their availability, their security, or anything they do or fail to do. Pricing and feature claims can change without notice. Always check the official source before making a purchase decision.
Affiliate and referral disclosure
Some of the tools mentioned on this site (Manus is the current example; others may be added over time) have referral programmes. If you sign up through one of my links, we both get a small benefit, usually a few free credits. I disclose this in two places: once in the homepage's "Before you go" section, and again here. It does not influence which tools I recommend or how I describe them. Where I think a tool is rubbish, I say so whether there is a referral link or not.
How questions submitted by email are handled
If you send me a question through the feedback link, I may publish a paraphrased and anonymised answer on the site. Anonymised means I remove names, employers, locations, and anything else that could identify you. The original email is kept in my private inbox; I do not share it. If you do not want a question published in any form, say so in the email and I will not publish it. If you want to be credited, also say so, and I will consider it on a case-by-case basis. The default is full anonymity.
Privacy: what data this site processes
I do not run an analytics tracker, do not sell data, and do not have a marketing list. The site does process some personal data:
- Server logs. Netlify (the hosting provider) keeps standard access logs including IP address and browser user-agent. These are kept by Netlify, not by me, and I do not look at them.
- The on-site AI chat. When you type a message into the chat widget, your message is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a reply. I do not store the conversation. Anthropic's own privacy practices apply.
- Persona Explorer. Your IP address is used to apply a daily rate limit (15 questions per day) so the feature does not get abused. The IP is stored briefly against today's date in a Netlify Blobs store and is forgotten the next day.
- Email feedback. If you email me a question, I receive your email address via Cloudflare email routing and Gmail. I read the email. I keep it in my inbox. I do not share it. AI tools assist me in classifying and drafting answers, but the email content is not deliberately uploaded to any AI training data.
If you want any of this deleted, contact me through the feedback link and I will action it.
